Background
i-neda are transitioning away from a one solution fits all architecture towards one where the technical solution for each component in our architecture is one that is best fit for purpose. Fit for purpose means, drastically lowers the cost of development, deployment and ongoing maintenance, as well as obvious technical suitability. As such, the website technology of choice is Ruby on Rails, while business functionality will be delivered either Ruby or Java, depending on purpose. The successful candidate for Technical Lead will have a proven track record of integrating disparate components such as these into a consolidated whole. We are not looking for someone who has spent all their time working in a Java environment.

Essential:
  • At least 4 years programming in Java / Java EE environment
  • Extensive "under the bonnet" knowledge of Java
  • At least 1 year in a team lead position
  • Experience with third-party component infrastructures, including Apache components, Spring and Hibernate
  • Extensive system design experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Java standard communications frameworks, including SOAP Web Services
  • Experience with and managing software development infrastructure - Eclipse IDE, CVS or Subversion, Maven, Ant, Cruise Control
  • CVS
Highly Desirable:
  • Experience designing and programming Ruby on Rails applications
  • Experience designing and implementing fault-tolerant applications
  • Experience with Enterprise System Bus (ESB) architectures

Duties:

LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Role
Systems administrator required to manage internal development networks and processes as well as customer systems. Candidates must have good web farm background and understand the core installation, patching and management of live systems. They will be dealing with deployment and management of internal and external systems. Mainly dealing with Linux based systems running j2ee application servers, apache web servers and MySql databases.

Duties:
  • Day-to-day office systems management, installing software, setting up user accounts, troubleshooting PC and server issues.
  • Provide sysadm support to developers on ongoing basis, configuring development environments and managing automated build systems
  • Install and configure O/S and applications in test and production environments
  • Perform software releases to test and to production systems
  • Write and configure housekeeping and management shell scripts; configure monitoring systems and ancilliary services such as DNS and SMTP Monitor production systems for server or application failure
  • Configure network permissions, including access policies, VPNs, proxy servers
Essential:
  • Extensive hands-on experience with recent flavours of Linux
  • Good knowledge of at least one industry-leading firewall appliance, e.g. Cisco, Juniper Netscreen
  • Good knowledge of network administration, including VLANs and VPNs
  • Good shell scripting skill
  • Experience installing, configuring Apache
  • Extensive experience installing and configuring common support services: DNS, NTP, SMTP
  • Experience installing and configuring at least one industry-leading DBMS, preferably MySQL (although not to DBA standard)
Highly Desirable:
  • Experience and knowledge of configuring redundant server and network infrastructures
  • Extensive experience with Ubuntu 7/8 or Debian
  • Experience installing, configuring and tuning Java SE and EE applications
  • Experience installing, configuring Ruby & Rails
  • Experience installing and configuring Nagios and NRPE
Nice to Have:
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • RedHat system administrator certification or equivalent
  • Sun Glassfish experience
